Talking LCD Purchase Advice - Seeking Recommendations

    Hello,

With apple hopefully releasing a new mini tomorrow I am finally resurrecting my Mac Mariner project. I need a touch panel LCD for this any where between 7 & 10". I have seen both the lilliput and the Xenarc and have not been impressed, but seem very faded even by 3 years ago standards.

Any recommendations? Ideally I would love something motorized.

I am curious if anyone has come out with a headunit, (eg. reg regular radio) that accepts not only video in from a computer, but interfaces with the computer allowing the touch panel to be used.

Motorized units will fail relatively fast and give you an overpriced non-motorized with some sort of random screeching/grinding/general defect.

If you want a good screen that works off the shelf, get the mp3car transflective screen. Sunlight readable.

If you want one to mess with, look at some of turbocad's work. Toshiba and Fujitsu use really nice reflective and transflective screens in their laptops making them great for the outside usually in the 10.2" up category though. Those will require a controller to work and lots of patience.

Good things come at great (+$$$) prices...
