    Exclamation Lilliput GL701 silly problem

    Hi 2 all.

A few days ago I bought the GL701 (yes I know, I'm an idiot). The first time I installed it in my car I faced these two problems: 1) the radio would jump from any frequency to memory 0 (87.7mhz) after a few seconds and 2) the remote control works but the gl701 doesn't receive the signal.
The second time I used the Lilli these problems were dissapeared and everything was working flawlessly! Suddenly after three days of perfect operation, yesterday night, these two problems reappeared!

Does anyone know what it could be ??

Is the IR receiver (the plastic bit that covers the receiver not the remote) close to the buttons on the device?

If so, I would say the button panel is connected to the mainboard via some sort of cable or ribbon and is loose or jiggling or something.

I was thinking of the same thing so I opened the unit, checked buttons and cables and blew it with air compressor but with no luck. I start to think that a chip or another electronic component has some kind of problem. The problem must be in the front circuit board the one with the buttons.

I'll describe the problem I face a bit better, if anyone knows anything please help: the radio "jumps" from any frequency to memory 0 (87.7mhz or whatever stored in this position) after a few seconds, stays there for a while and then goes to memory 4, after that to memory 1 and again memory 0 and so on. Also the remote control works ok (I checked it) but the unit doesn't receive the signal whatever button I press to the remote. When I enter the menu to adjust brightness contrast etc the values increase automatically without pressing any buttons on the screen or the remote. The unit did these crazy things the first time I used it, the next day and for 3 days was working without any problem at all and since yesterday started doing the same problems again. I have to mention that this problem happens anytime, with and without having the engine running or moving the car, so this problem isn't because of vibrations. This makes me guess that the IR receiver of the unit is defective and is causing this problem, is this possible?

Tape over the IR receiver with something heavy duty, preferably reflective. Maybe it is receiving strange signals from ambient light, meaning their IR encoding scheme sucks.

my friends tv did something similar. turns out it was a demonstration mode sent from below.

yours probably is not that bc it doesn't systematicly jump to the presets.

but if you have the guts and you know its the receiver just unsolder it and remove it

guys so far so good: I removed the IR receiver and the screen stopped doing the crazy stuff, no problems at all (till now). I will buy and install a new IR receiver and I'll let you know...

after all I wasn't so lucky as I thought, they lilli did the same strange things so it is the receivers fault, it must be a defective chip. I send a message to the seller to send me a replacement board and I hope to fix it some day
