Are you seious !? They scotch taped that controler board in place ?
My connector got broken again. As I expected. But now it was the last pin on the other side. Same way, only tip got off PCB. After soldering this one and couple attached/detaches of the plug, I found that there's another pin is also broken right on the elbow. The thing is, that the button you push in the plug is not good decision, because when you push it, you actially push the connector, and because it is not fixed on the PCB, you push all those pins this connector is sitting on. And eventually you going to break one of the pins - either first or last, because they become the weakest ones.
Advice to all owners of the Xenarc and its clones: Be very carefully when you connect/disconnect the cable to the monitor. If you do this often, you will break those pins. Other simptoms, that some of them are weak or almost broken are: tochpanel doesn't work sometimes, touchpanel cannot be found by softvare, screen is flickering, flashing, changing colors for no reason.
Question to Falken Hou did you put back that connector/socket. I'm thinking about tearing it off myself, I lost warranty anyway, and resolder everything, using wires from PCB to the connector. Sooner or later it is going to be broken anyway, because of stupug design and bad assembling, so How did you do that?

Mine is glued to one of the big chips on that PCB, using something like thik tape glued ond both sides, so there's no way to remove it without brake either it or that chip. I'm not even speaking about spreading out of the heat that chip is producing....

That connector is the same connector that broke off of mines. Your board layout is a little different, will try to post pic to describe my problem, but basically, that whole socket broke off. I can trace some of the pins to a bigger solder point, but there are some traces underneath the board that I cannot see and have no idea where they go to.
Anyone can help me on that?
B.T.W. my controller board is doublesided styo-foam tape to the chip so I can't remove it without damaging something.
How old is your screen?
And this thread is over a year old.... so it's probably going to be the next generation Xenarc...

What are the dimensions of the LCD panel and controllers when you take them out of the case?
