I'd go the tranflective route. MDT-x700 are known to be problematic.
I'm trying to plan out a car pc for my toyota celica. I want to be able to listen to the radio still, as well as have a cd/dvd drive close to the display. I like how the MDT-X7000 is a flip out that can do independant stuff (meaning i could install it first and use it on it's own for a while) like a dvd drive and radio. I think this would also interface to the car audio better. but it's $800. which isn't horrible, but if it gets stolen, i probably couldn't replace it quickly. So i've been thinking.
Should i do a double din, transflective screen, and mold it into the dash for about $500, and add a dvd drive, etc to the pc when i get to that. or should i just save up and get the MDT-X7000 so i don't have to build out the whole system before i can start using it. or should i just go the budget route (money is an issue) and just get like a 629 or something. (i've just heard to stay away from cheaper lilli's)
would love to hear all your opinions. For now i'm leaning towards getting the mdt, simply because i can use it before i can afford the rest of the comp, and it can be moved to any other car.

dsatx in voompc 2 case <HERE>
I'd agree with skuller, the MDT's are known to have some issues, I know a guy who had one and had to send it back twice for repairs. Personally I'd go transflective, I've used the transflective 629 and they're fairly awesome and pretty easy to view even in direct sunlight.
RevFE - Super fast, modular frontend. Most powerful skinning engine in existence. Strong enough for an i7 made for a fitpc.Originally Posted by mitchjs
Just a shame I can't justify a carpc to use it on anymore.
Just upgraded my 700TSV to 702TSV.....WOW..what a difference! Highly recommend it..
brightness, i can now actually read it during the day
i couldn't read it at all during the day, it was embarassing to show off my carpc during the day...defiantely yes worth it
the 702 has the readability of a transflective, has the autoon and switch features, reliability of xenarc, and costs about 200 less....
