LCD Flicker when laptop is charging

    Hi

I have a generic touchscreen powered by a 12v regulated cig jack and a laptop (18v) which is powered by a universal laptop charger (DC-DC) which also runs of the same cig jack (double adaptor).

If I run the laptop from it's battery (without the charger plugged into the laptop, but still in the cig socket) the picture is fine.

If I plug the charger in to the laptop I get flickering on the screen.

Adjusting refresh rate doesn't make any difference, and I have the latest drivers.

Have tried seperating VGA cable from power and VGA cable is ferrited, I guess I'll hook up a normal LCD when I get home to test

Any ideas? I suspect that the laptop drawing 18v is causing noise on the line, but is the interference being carried on the VGA cable or the power cable? Or maybe cos they are sharing the same cig jack?

    Any advice welcomed

    This is my first thought.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

I have the same problem. My EBY701 keeps flickering pretty badly whenever the laptop is charging via an universal dc power adapter through cigarette lighter socket - tried different power sources, VGA cables, with or without USB plugged but still the do same thing.

However its perfectly fine when I charge the laptop with the factory AC adapter. Interesting and **** annoying!!

I'm going to try to plug the same laptop power adapter to a different car while leaving everything else untouched and see what will happen.

    Will post up result later.

    ****update****

tried to plug the same laptop power from another car cigarette socket and it works....can't figure it..anyone wanna shed some lights ?
