    Thanks for the info!!

Does anyone have suggestions for mounting the non-VESA transflective lcds to a Ram mount? I'm going to go with:

    http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResu...6/Default.aspx

and hopefully modify it to work somehow.

Would you guys consider a transflective add-on to some of the 2010 Xenarc models? Maybe like this one:

    http://www.xenarcdirect.com/product.php?productid=16144

Those are looking sharp. Especially the brushed aluminum and the U-mount on this model. Seems like the final product could be a pretty rugged and much more inexpensive option for the marine sector. All of that stuff is IP65 or more rated. How often will an lcd display really be totally submerged with water? Not too often.

Look for a ram mount that mimics the monitor stand. We have had a few and they work great. don't have the part number.

Thanks again fiberoptic! I searched for the RAM mount and couldn't find one. I was also looking for some of the netbook/tablet PC holders but nothing seemed to fit exactly. I think I should be able to rig something with the back panel ... however, if you happen to run across what has been used in the past, I would greatly appreciate the info : )

So did we ever determine if there was a difference between MP3Car's screen and Mo-Co-So's screen? The prices are significantly different for the 629GL from MP3Car, the 629GL from MoCoSo, and the EBY701 from MoCoSo.

I am fairly certain the mp3car screen is the only screen on the market that is fully transflective. They cant just order them, they send them out to be done.

I very much doubt that they can do the same full bonding process for that price and make money. You get what you pay for.

I hate to say it Fiberoptic (you have been a great help to me and I really appreciate it ... and I have bought most of the boatputer parts from you), but I finally went with the mo-co-so optically-bonded unit. The guy there made me feel confident about his product. As we all know, transflective is a misleading term, but what really sold me was the optical bonding. To my knowledge, this will set the unit apart. Not sure if all units use this technology, but seems to be on the high-end unit at mo-co-so for sure. Plus, he said that there wasn't a difference between the 629 and the 701, so I ended up spending $600 for the 701. The back of the unit is more flat as well, so it should be easier to mount with the universal ram mount that I bought. If this performs well on a boat with total sunlight, I will be able to vouch for it. I'll be reviewing this product and will hopefully have only good things to say and share with you guys.

I will be customizing it a bit. I have to make the connections that stay on the boat at all times waterproof. I am thinking of permanently installing the power and the centronics connectors and using plasti-dip to seal them to protect from corrosion. I may cut the power and centronics connector and add a shielded/waterproof connector so that the unit can be easily removed. Thoughts?

The mocoso vendor seems to think otherwise about the price. I'll post some details about how they do their screen, but he has also sent them out and applies different levels of upgrades for the three levels of monitors he has. I'll post what he sent me.
