there is a thread titled "slot load any screen without voiding the warranty!" that is using that exact idea, the problem though is that the screen is as wide as the dash, so with the sliding rails, there is still modification nessesary.
Been out of the CarPC loop for a while, but got a new (ish) car and looking to get everything back in again.
So in my absense, was a solution found to fitting a Lilliput EBY701 into a single DIN? Drawers, rails, pull-outs, that sort of stuff - anything that avoids me having to chop into the plastic of my 20-year-old dashboard...

it is very tricky. i started a new worklog for my project.. http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/work...cd-budget.html
in my case, it looks like it would have been possible to mount the rails on the bottom, allowing me keep the width to a minimum... but even then i still would have to make the hole slightly wider just to accommodate the screen itself.
i really wish someone else would do it though. i cant find anyone else at this place that does the slide-out lcd. i think i saw one that popped straight up from the dash, and thats pretty cool. to me i just didnt like the idea of a stationary screen mounted in place of my radio. my truck isnt nice enough to have a visible lcd in it, also if the pc doesnt work for some reason some day, i can just use the regular radio/cd player.
