common guys...
Im looking for info on how to cut down a screen, also what kind of screens alow themselves to be cut down.
Im planning something bigger then i can get and i dont want to use 3 screens, i'd rather use one and cut off the top/bottom and clip the edges to fit.

Cutting a screen as in the flat panel? lol not possible...
Wait, so your saying you want one massive long screen? You can try a OLED display, but the tech is fairly new and its expensive as h3ll. You would also have to buy some kind of device to combine all that into one display because if you do it all off of one port its going to be stretched out. I think the best thing to is simply place multiple displays really close together to the point they look as one. Another idea is to get one long piece of tinted glass then put three displays behind it, so when its off it looks like one display and when on looks like 3 different ones.

I agree multiple displays will be soooo much easier and cheaper, OLED isn't actually that great from my experience... I have 3 ASUS G1 laptops which all have OLED readouts on them and all of them have 'burn' marks etc from them being on for extended periods of time. I asked ASUS about this and they said it's to be expected with this type of tech lol.
Also using standard, multiple screens, if something goes wrong it will only kill one and it'll be easy to replace it! Multiple screens imo can also look great without much work, look at the dial cluster on that honda, it's divided up nicely with some silver trim, the same could be done nicely with 3 screens, I imagine 2 smaller screens either side of one large screen which would be set back slightly and the 2 smaller screens positioned at a very slight angle, much like the new Honda Civic dashboard.
I suppose if you want to chop off the top and bottom, you could clamp it down to the table and go at it with a circular saw. Maybe use a blade with a fine tooth pitch... But if you cut into your LCD, then all of the liquid crystals will drain out... and it's probably not healthy to cut off those parts of the circuit board either.
I would advise against it.
sooo., i take it you guys have no idea what im talking about???,
I cant remember if it was a TFT LCD or what, but ppl here a few years back chopped down screens. Might be befor some of your guys time though. and yes i know that the LCD would drain, this initally was ment as a repair, it was some kind of tape that you use that is semi conductice that you wrap the end of the glass in.
What i want to do is span from left to right a area of about 24-30" i was planning on buying a regulat houshold monitor and clopping it. now i know that there is a way of doing it but i cant find it. So dont tell me that it cant be done. it has been.
This method was used by someone here to turn a 15" monitor into a 8"x12" tablet. and by another member to clip the corner of the screen to fit a round enclosure.
YES it would be easyer to just use 3 screens but that would cost me over 1000 in screens alone. Granted i dont need them with the touch portion. what i wanted to do is contole it with a wimote mounted in the roof of the car. with a reflective pointer. but whatever thats just my idea,.
Havcing three screens would kinda ruin the futuristic look,. Idealy u would like for the screen to be curved but i dont hace room behind for a rear projector style. therefor i would like to use one single, say 36" screen that can be found for 300-500 and clip the lower portion to fit mount it up-side down, then use a vaccume formed piece of plexi/lexan painted black in some parts and tinted in the center where the screen would go, in a cemi sircle kinda way.
BUT i need to know what screens are able to be cut. what would be another fourm or section that i could try?

To make it clear, you can't cut a LCD/TFT/Panel or whatever you want to refer it too... This was said well before your time.
Cut up (physically resize) old LCD screen?
If you cut the screen you'll pretty much destroy the LCD matrix. You'd be much better off (and saner) either using multiple monitors, or just using four windows on one desktop.
