    Dimmer knob for 7" Touchscreen

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction (to a product or a customization guide).

I am looking to have a 7" touchscreen that has a knob that will dim or brighten the display (much like dimming the back light on a car's instrument panel.

If there is nothing like this that exists, is there a way to make a knob that will do this, or is there a way to dim the display when the headlights are on and then be bright when the headlights are off? Thanks and please go easy on me...fresh noob.

I don't know the answer, but I certainly agree with the question.

You have me wondering if it's possible to interrupt the ground or power to the backlight and switch a resistor in and out of the circuit with a relay, controlled by the headlights. That would be sweet.

There have been a few hacks to do it, but there are so many variations in controller boards that it's kind of a hassle. Here's one...
