    Vertically Mounted Screen in Vehicle

Has anyone mounted/thought of mounting a touch screen in their car vertically?
Do any of the current FE's support this?
Would you like to do this?

Throwing it out there, I want to put a vertically mounted screen in my truck, and I cant seem to find anyones post as to if they have done this or not.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and spilled my kool-aid on it.

A vertical mount is not for the novice. TurboCad6 and Biggy both have threads of their fab work and both are extensive mods to the vehicles. Not something I'd try for sure. Mine is a tablet on a rotating Docking station so I can have portrait or landscape.

There are at least three of us that have developed vertical screen skins for Ride Runner. I once had a screen setup for CF1.?? (a looonnnnngggg time ago) and I am currently modifying one for FreeCar. There was at least one other front-end someone made a tallskin for but I don't remember where it is. And not to slight you, I saw your "Green Theme Vert Edition" for openMobile.

Let's see as far as installs go the only ones I know for sure are Turbocad6 and I (although I know there are more out there somewhere.) TurboCad6 had some great skins he was developing but I don't remember if they were ever released. Longjon76 gave us one screenshot of a possible skin back in May, but he hasn't posted in a long while. Biggy from Australia has a great worklog of his screen fab skills but the thread never showed a completed install and his software thread never produced a released skin but produced an outstanding graphical representation of what he considered to be the best combinations of top and bottom functions for his tallskin. DavidP has done two tallscreen skins (his second is what I've modified for my primary tallskin). His first was pretty basic. The second gave us a thread to discuss options and methodology.

Most of the discussions listed above are for the front-end called Ride Runner. The main reason being that ANY skin developed for Ride Runner can be used as a tallscreen skin just by changing the general.ini to whatever resolution you want to use. Unfortunately, when changing as drastically as going from a wide screen to a tall screen the fonts get a little screwy sometimes.

That ought to be enough to get you started.

Thats really helpful! What size screens did you guys run to do a portrait screen? I've been planning doing the same as this, deleting my HVAC controls and integrating the lot into the carPC.

Turbocad6 and I are running front-lit transflexive 10.4" screens, but with his new vehicle, I believe he went back to landscape.

yea, the vertical screen mod isn't so simple... I decided to make the plunge on it as well.

it is great for having so much space to have things though.
