Ruined a ribbon cable on a Xenarc 705TSV monitor. What do I do?

ok...i understand that it is a zero insertion force connector...THAT IS IRRELAVENT. Does no one really understand what I am saying....He said that there are some bent pins, but they aren't touching anything so its ok...then he asks what is wrong...uuummmm hello...the pins aren't touching anything...

Yes well I think he meant they aren't touching each other or the board, but I could be wrong.

It would be quite simple to bend all the pins straight again. But I really haven't seen a zif socket that has pins that can be bent easily just from an ffc being pulled out. That's why I'm wondering if the zif was broken off the mainboard.

Ok...do we need to go back to basic electrical physics...do you know what a conductor is...its something that conducts electricity...On computer electronics, a voltage means 1....no voltage means 0...if everything is 0 all of the time, how is it supposed to work???...It isn't magic...the voltage has to get there somehow..and they don't just put wires there to hold the thing together...

i know like really...does he think that the pins are just there to look cool...obviously if they aren't touching anything on the cable that is an issue...that is the solution...I don't see the problem...

uuummmm...try it...if the pins are supposed to be underneath, then put them underneath...

Finally he gets it.
Okay, here's the deal. I realized after talking to Jimmy at Xenarc that those bent pins do make contact with the underside of the ribbon cable afterall. The way I have it in the picture the cable is under the pins. I have to pull the cable back out and lay it on top of the bent pins but then there is no way for it to stay in place right? Well that's where the ZIF would come in, it's supposed to flip down and press the cable onto the pins creating contact. THIS is why it's not working, I had the cable in the wrong spot. And when I put it in the right spot I have the problems of bent pins and no ZIF.

So hailrazer, where do I buy this brown ZIF? It is a flip down, not a slide out and it snapped in half when I picked it up off the work bench. I'm determined to get this working somehow. Or sell it on Ebay.

I need a pic of the ffc against a mm ruler so I can tell the # of pins and pitch. Like this :

Then I can get you a part # from digikey for you to order. It will be around $6-$7 shipped and take around a week to get it.

What's FFC? The ribbon cable?
Right now I'm trying to use the 15 centimeter cable I got from the mp3car.com store which looks to have the same pitch as the Xenarc one. But if it doesn't work I already have an original Xenarc cable on the way which is only about 1.5 inches long. I'll get a picture of both for you.

Yes the ffc ribbon cable, take a pic of the end of it against a mm ruler just like the pic I showed
