The IPS screen on the iPad is amazing. And it's not even sunlight readable, but it's very powerful and with great contrast (blacks are truly black, not grey). It's not perfect, it's not like the best tablet screens (AFFS+ in the latest Motion Computing), you cannot see much under direct sunlight, but in indirect sunlight or overcast, it's perfect. Amazing viewing angles too, no color shifting at all.
But it's so thin, I bet nobody builds controllers capable of dealing with it. I think the whole controller board for a Xenarc, just the controller board, just the capacitors look almost taller then the whole freaking iPad is thick..they're just like most controller boards I've seen on ebay, I'm willing to bet Apple design requires everything to be .1 mm thick solid state only.
