I checked onlinecomponents.com as well and the 3m capacitive touch screens are sold out. The controllers are still available. I contacted mouser but havent heard back from them yet. Anyone have any other sources for the touch screen?
I found a website for someone to look into.
Crystal Touch 7" up to 10 Simultaneous Touches, Next gen screen
Projected Capacitive Touch Panels + TFT has usb interface
I would choose Crystal, scratch resistant, Multi-Touch has a high resolution of 4096 x 4096, a fast sampling rate of 100 Hz, (10 ms per scan), auto calibration and is not restricted to just touch; panels will also work with a tethered stylus.
Hope this helps
^actually i am going to disagree: in the third pic, there is a shadow at the top, indicating that it is in a higher sunlight area-- the image is still relatively clear, readable, and doesn't appear to be reflecting anything, though that could be a trick of the camera lens.
my stock 619 has none of this, and is almost a mirror with any amount of sunlight..

I took those pictures right after I did the conversion. And, there was plenty of direct light on the monitor during the shoot.
Keep in mind that I am far from a pro photographer, and the camera I use is and older Minolta set to "auto".
