Well thanks for taking the plunge Gio, hope it turns out great for you. That shipping cost is outrageous unless it come protected near as well as a nuke. That would explain the insane difference in price that I've noticed. Kinda ebay style, sell it for cheap and then make up the difference in "shipping and handling".

Looks like I'm needing a replacement 10.4 as well. Looking forward to hearing how this works out.

Sorry for the wait... they made me go out for drinks after work.

Anyway, It DID come with the controller attached. The pic of the corner shows the overlap on the 10.4 Lilliput screen. It's about 2 - 3 mm on each side then 1 or 2 on the top and bottom.

I will not be installing until tomorrow, I will post again.

I take back my statement on the shipping charges after doing estimator on the UPS site. Still bitter though.

After reading the manual (who does that), I found that the connector on the controller that goes to USB is a 51004-0500 molex. The info is on page 10 of the reference guide.

Hopefully I will be able to find the connector at Fry's tomorrow morning. If not, I'll probably get impatient and solder on my own connection anyway.

The installs underway, but people keep bugging me with work.

So the ribbon from the sensor lines up directly where the top left screw should go. I will be removing the screw that hold the bracket in place there and routing the ribbing between the frame and the bracket. It works, but you cannot screw it in there. However the screen is held in place very well by the other 3 screws.

I also had to trim down some stuff. So a dremel is very necessary.

I will not be able to complete the install until tonight, but I did have a chance to plug it into my computer at my desk and this thing is business. Tracking is super smooth when running your finger across it. No more using your fingernail for iList and having little scratches in the middle of the screen.

Very satisfied with spending $98 (after $40 3-day shipping) on this. Fyi: 5 day should run about 12-15 dollars.

    Some pics below.

Still not in the car yet, but doesn't seen to be working well on my laptop with screen installed; you can't get to the edges. I set it up REAL quick just to test. Only did the 3 point calibration so we'll see after the linearization.

    Hopefully it's Windows 7 and a my half-assed installation.

I ordered the 7" yesterday, it will be in Money. I was super happy when I was too cheap to pay for anything but Ground shipping, and then it shipped from Miami (I'm in Tampa) so the only way to beat the travel time would have been to do overnight.

    Something to keep in mind:

There must be a space between the lcd panel and the back the sensor. This may cause some difficulty in replacing the original overlay.

I have it in the car now, semi-half-assed (quater-assed?), and I'm in love again. Definitely worth the upgrade. Now I just need to figure out how to mount everything properly.
