Murphy's a guy? Hmm... For some reason every time I hear "Murphy's law" I think Murphy Brown? *cringes*

The 3M controller completely replaces it. The touch screen that comes from here comes with the appropriate controller. I've posted the data sheets on the controller previously. You'll need either the appropriate 5 pin molex or the appropriate USB cable, also in one of my previous posts. You can get them both at the same place and I would recommend it to save on shipping.

Last night when I was messing around with it, I started to wonder if it was possible to solder into the lilli board and use the USB port that is tied into the dongle with VGA and A/V. Something else to do this weekend.

[QUOTE=Pegasus50;1389823]This looks like a great candidate to work with. Can you show us (well me really) what it looks like on the inside (you're going to ditch the case right).

Right now i have it installed back in the case but im waiting on a double din kit to arrive to install it in the car, also i need to work out a problem with resolution setting on the monitor, when its the only thing plugged in it like to start in 720x480 i can get it to go to 800x480 with another monitor but obviously i dont want that so trying to figure that out right now. Theres some pics posted on THIS thread already

The DoubleSight just made my short list of LCD's. Especially if the 3M Controller works out as well as we all hope. I really want this setup to work in the BBN case.

Thanks for the heads-up on your worklog. Your original system concept looks ambitious. The Archos tablet seems to be a great alternative to the Ipad although more people seem to be inspired with the Ipad.

I eventually want to set-up a multi-zone media device to allow infrequent passengers to control their own media on long trips. A low speced Ipad or Archos could replace my aging Thinkpad as well.

Yeah the archos could have been a good option for some cars, mine is just too small. Also another thing i ran into with it is it didnt like powering the dvd player through usb.

The doublesight would be great for a second monitor, but unless i figure out the resolution not sure about it being the main monitor, I would look for something similar that has a vga input, Its a great monitor though and the 3M touchscreen i got fits over it perfectly.

Another weekend watching Baseball and reading the forums; when Google presents something useful. What really got me interested is the price $226.00

It's an evaluation kit which hopefully means that it hasn't been castrated in some way. Barring any major incompatibility with automotive use I'm seriously thinking about dropping the hammer on this one. Come on guys help me pull the trigger!

Sales Rep. With touch International responded to my inquiry today with a suggestion for what model would be appropraite for the Black Box case. I'll order when I have confirmation on the price.

The Rep. also warned me that Projected Capacitive Displays my have issues with Parasitic Capacitance. As I understand it this might be a concern for wholly in-dash mounted system which has a Pico system mounted within the same enclosure as the display. So I may be back to square one. I still think I'll give it a try though just for the fun of experimentation.

How's the glare/sunlight readability on this panel?
If it's not too much trouble, do you think you can post up physical dimensions of the 7" panel? I need to see if I can get it to fit with my 629 double din kit without too much modification.

Here's the data sheet for this model as published on Touch Internationals website. For the benefit of those who don't really care the specs are 6.697" W X 4.370" H. Which puts my use of the Black Box-N in question I can't seem to find specs on the lilli's screen dimensions; anyone have them lying around?

To further the my confusion the Sales Rep. @ Future Electronics stated that they don't have the 7" in stock only the 8.4". I didn't matter that the website reported otherwise. I finally got the hint that unless I was a commercial customer they aren't interested in my business.
