    Capacitive touch installed

Well, since no one is posting an updates with pics, I will!

    Resistive!!!

    <br>

    CAPACITIVE!!

Holy-cow. Talk about a significant improvement in glare reduction. The first resistive touch photo had similar lighting as capacitive, so side by side comparison is in order.

    Gloomy day vs indoors!

I will post more pictures when it is sunny! Gloomy day today.

Just bought the 3M TOUCH SYSTEMS 98-0003-3112-8 and 7312256 cable to go along with it. I am very happy this was available as I DESPISE resistive touch, once you handle capacitive applications its night and day. Look forward to getting it and installing it. I'll let you guys know how it goes..

Sorry, that touch panel will not fit the DIN kit.

You can use the panel from my kit and use the HID controller. I verified compatibility today.

I will make a listing for panel only over the weekend.

Not sure if either panel will fit a Xenarc bezel.
If you want to send your bezel in for a test fit we can do that for you.

Just so everyone knows don't buy that Capacitive screen off of Ebay... Go to the website where you can get it for $49. I got the USB cable, screen, and shipping for $67 total. Talk about a steal. I got it in the other day and took apart my lilliput EBY701 and the screen will fit perfectly over the old one after removing the resistive cover. It will take a little fabrication to shave off the little tabs it has in there as the capacitive screen is thicker and larger then the resistive one. I have not gotten to the fab part yet but it def can be done. If you are looking to make this change you are gonna have to know there will be a little fab work involved.

I was skeptical when i first bought this not knowing what i was going to get but for that $67 you get the 3M capacitive screen, controller, and the USB cable which means you will have EVERYTHING you need to just replace the resistive screen. When i start testing and putting back together with my fab work i will post pictures...

Still no clue why stores aren't using these instead of resistive. "Cost" is BS. An extra $30-$50 on top of a screen that, for optically-bonded & transflective screens at least, approaches $600 is nothing. If they've got the know-how to optically-bond something to the screen and all of the other extras they're offering over the stock screens, they should have it be the purchaser's option of what kind of touch panel they want.

Unless you have a valid reason, you shouldn't tell people what not to buy...

The capacitive kit on ebay is for the double din frame that the lilliput monitors can be installed into.
The 3m kit you bought will not fit into the double DIN frame, or any other Lilliput housing except the 701 housing.

There is a bit more work to do that just trimming a few tabs off the bezel when installing the 3m kit into a 701.

Here's a pictue of one of my 701's w/ the 3m kit in it with the HID controller operating with the factory Lilliput VGA/USB cable. No extra USB cable required. Picture is in sunlight on Friday, 5-28-10. 91 degrees and full sunlight.
