The mother of all lcd's - need advice

Well along with my dashpc I am speccing out a diy home theatre system. I already have the htpc running mythtv which rules by the way. I am now looking to build a lcd projector instead of buying a bigscreen.
    So...check out this thread:

Those guys found the specs for the wonderful dell uxga 15" ultrabright screen! Now I love that screen on my laptop and I will probably use it for my projector, and... I am drooling about how that would look in my car! Has anyone done that? Anyone else dreaming about 1600x1200 in dash lcd?
It looks like about $1000 for the screen and a controller, anyone know how to do it cheaper?

If you can read text in a car at 1600x1200 on the LCD my hat is off to you.

hehe sounds like someone hasn't heard of libfreetype and fontconfig and startx -- -dpi 200. I can make text fatter than yo momma on a 1600x1200 screen - in linux of course. The benefit is much much much sharper text and graphics.
