its just a lilliput 701 mounted to a more car PC friendly frame. The 701 is a tried and true design that wont give you any problems
1st post, trying to build a CarPC in Australia is becoming tricky. It is hard to find parts.
Thanks to guino and the guys for Ride/Road Runner, JohnWPB for DigitalFX and Valheru and the guys for Teknik (I'm not sure which skin to use, maybe 1 for Day and 1 for Night, both are great). I'm still tryin to configure them properly. I have a DIBCOM USB tuner that I am struggling to configure with RR, any ideas??
The main issue atm is the display, there aren't any in Australia (that I can find) and then I saw this 1:
Has anyone used it? Any problems??
G'day Sonicxtacy02, thanx 4 the feedback, looks like a good unit.
Mmm....you may want to spent a little (or a lot) extra and get a transflective screen rather It is much more visible in daylight/sunlight conditions, otherwise you will be sorely disappointed.
I have both a Xenarc 700TSV, and 2 Ebay specials, an 8" and 10.4" LCDs, and they're all but unuseable for daylight use in a car environment.
I put together a very decent 8.4" transflective based on the NEC panel, and that's the bee's knees. Search this LCD forum for Fiberoptic's thread should you want more info. I also have info in my Project Log, link in my signature.
Have a good one.
G'day mrbean_phillip, good to see another Melbournian on here.
AWESOME JOB!!!! on the F6, total package, shweet as.
I can't justify to the missus too much expense (Bloody women), but I know where you're coming from, mine will be a hack job in comparison but this is my 1st attempt at a CarPC so I will call this 1 the prototype and expand as I go.
Thanx for the feedback though, Luv ur work.
P.S. just in case, have you got a ball park figure on the transflective??
Thanx for the feedback - hey, they remain a work in progress, these carputers I've a lot of work to finish off during the next few days, so will be posting new pics shortly.
Looking forward to your efforts, and shout if I can help.
The transflective was done from parts all over, probably in the $600 region - would be a good guess.
It's a lovely 8.4" though, and I'm busy beta-testing some new CF30 fixes, and it looks georgious even compared to my 30" Apple cinema Display.
