that wouldn't be a good idea....lots of voltage there.
Now a rheostat between power and the invertor might work
Has anyone ever tried to wire a rheostat between the invert and backlight of a lcd? Would that make the lcd dimmable?
comments?

My next generation Front End is right on schedule.
It will be done sometime in the next generation.
I'm a lesbian too.
I am for hire!
but if the inverter doesnt get enuff juice it prolly wont supply the volts it needs... but hey, tell us how it goes![]()
I have not done any research on the rheostat thingy, But I would need a rheostat that hold up to 1200vAC. But the main issue would be, the actual backlight tube, the ccfl I dont think they are dimable.
But all in all, if I can find a cheap rheostat that can withstand 1200vAC I will give it a shot, to see if it works.
edit: after looking at radioshack I guess the one they have one cut it. Look at the specs, it only holds 500vAC for only one minute.

That is high voltage for a rheostat, you need to get in before the high voltage. maybe hacking into the primary for the stup up transformer, but I don't know if that would through off the circuit enough to make it not work. I have seen backlight driver boards with a small trim pot on them to adjust the brightness, you could desolder it and solder and bigger one with a knod on to control it.
Thats the best plan, about the trimmer pot.Originally posted by eugenen

You can put a rheo between the tubes and the inverter, it wont work. And I highly doubt it would work between the inverter and the power.
ive put pots in-between power and the inverter before for cold cathode tubes and they infact do dim ....this was using cold cathodes for my computer case mods though a couple years ago.. . .so yea i don't see any harm in putting a rheostat inbetween the 12v and the inverter. . .. doesn't your lcd have brightness controls?
I don't need no stinkin' startup-shutdown controller... That's what journalized filesystems are for...
