    For those with color depth experience...

    I am considering some lcds. Both of them are 10.4" and 800x600 dots. One is a 262K colors and the other is 16.7M colors. i know I would rather have the better one, but it cost considerably more. Tell me, can you really see a difference in color depth if you only use the lcd for media, Divx and dvd?

    No, not really. if you put the two displays side-by-side you *might* notice the difference, but the 262K color display should look OK on its own when viewing video.

    easy way for you to test this is.

    Set your desktop to the resolution that the LCD would run at. Then also change the color depth.

    Judge for yourself.

    256 colors will look like crap.

    256 colors will look like crap.
    I was thinking the same thing, then noticed the K after 256. Having 256,000 colors is fairly good.
