hm interesting. i will open the screen back up tonight [or over the weekend] and see what i can trace out - thanks for the help! this mystery is becoming exciting!
Looks to me like it's exactly the same... the board layout just doesn't have a plated through-hole for the wire connection. I can see all the components in place... can you trace the connection from the top-most resistor (labeled 103 - one of the three I have shown in the mod) to a wire connection or solder point somewhere else on the board? It almost looks like there's a trace leaving to the right of that resistor that goes off somewhere else (down the edge of the PCB).
You may find that they have that point tied to a ground plane.... in which case you may be able to cut the trace and try applying 12V to that resistor where the wire would normally be. Just a guess. See if you can figure out what that resistor is connected to

Yea... Has anyone with the Older style 629 that supports the CCFL applied 12v + to the location in question?

Mine looks like this too. Transistor/resistors are already there but there's no wire. So the only mod needed is to solder a wire to the right place. You need to trace that Cu line - it goes right then turns right/down to a bunch of empty connector holes - the one you need is the 4th from top on the right row.
I have the Lilliput 629GL-70NP that i purchased in mid to late 2009 from mp3car and the board looks identical to the OPs. I have the plated through hole for the wire etc..
I set about doing this mod last night and i put 2 smaller resistors 0402 since thats all i had access to and an NPN on the board as per the directions. The first NPN did not work and had no video switching upon supplying a +12V to the wire while the second NPN transistor that I tried worked in that it switched my video input to video2 but then quickly switched back to PC then to video2 in an endless cycle with no time to display any image on either inputs.
Any thoughts? Should I try another NPN?
thanks utd09bry. i just fixed this before reading your post and it was indeed the non common ground that was giving me an issue. using the same ground for both the sensing wire and the supply to the board worked great. Thanks though!
Hello Friend, Very sorry for the very very late reply, the carpc project was parked for sometime because we had another baby.
Today I did manage to test the trigger and it worked with some issues
A special thank you to the team @ pccar.ru for there help, I am trying to log on there now to update the post, but cant remember my pw DOH!
Here is a short video of the issue

utd09bry,
just did this mod to my lilly and bingo, auto reverse cam input, many thanks for an excellent write up.
I silly question, what colour phone is VIDEO2 input, red or yellow?
Cheers
