Could you clarify as to what exact differences you noticed with the new capacitative overlay and how much better was the visibility? Im assuming you wont get that glaze affect when sunlight is hitting the screen hard at a certain angle. Does it render having a transreflective screen practically uneccesary?
I wonder if anyone sells a cheap 7" capacitative overlay such that you could just rip out the old resistive overlay and put on the new one.

I'm really considering buying this screen. The only thing i'm worried about is spending an extra $100 and the accuracy and readability be worse than the resistive screen. I wish someone would buy this and give a review!! Anyone want to chip in $5 for a review? :)
i went ahead and bought just the touch panel. i didnt get it from the guy on ebay but it is the same panel that hes selling. i was lucky and a member here had one available. it probally wont be here for a week or so and will take me a bit to get it in but ill let you guys know how it works out.
does anyone know what the pin out for the usb is on the lillput cable?.

Well the brightness is better, the characters now look a lot sharper (it was is if everything was slightly blurry with the resistive panel) and the yellowing of the whites is completely gone, in other words the color accuracy just went up. The crazy difference (the main reason why we all are considering capacitive) is the sensitivity... I use Streetdeck for the gestures and everything is a lot more natural. sliding the finger over the glass versus "plasticy" surface is way more natural, no need to actually press on the screen, but rather graze it.
Transflective would be a nice touch but i don't think it's that much of a necessity, i'd rather go for an optical bonding, where the space between the overlay and the LCD is filled with a transparent component, suppressing 2 levels of reflection, take a look at this:

how hard was it to swap the resistive for the capacitive?
Anyone interested in a group buy? If we can get maybe 5-10 ppl, maybe we can negotiate a discount.
I'm game, I think i'm sold on capacitive as long as not having it bonded will make glare worse than a resistive. My dash is already at a bad angle for glare.Quote:
