Where can i find dead desktop LCDs?

I am looking for a place to get a dead or partially functional 17" desktop LCD display. I am working on a project which needs an LCD capable of 1280x1024, but the backlight does NOT need to be functioning. I hear that the backlight is one of the more common problems with LCD displays, aside from dead pixels (which would not be good for this project), and if the backlight is dead or dim, I can remove it.

I ask this question in the LCD forum in hopes that someone has come accross this specific request.

    Thanks guys.
    System in the works:
Celeron 850 or PIII 933, SB Live! Value into a stock 4 channel amp, ATI vid, 10.4" sharp LCD w/ allen's controller, Elo SW touchscreen overlay and controller, GPS, TV tuner, FW DVD drive, 4 port serial card, and some other stuff....

    Loads of ideas.

search ebay for "broken lcd" or "bad lcd screen" or similar

there are usually laptops on there with bad parts, but usable screens. as for desktop screens, i can only assume that there are some of those out there as well.

    best of luck
