    character display

    I can't find a dang thing on wiring up a character led to a serial cable. Would it be different for every character led that I buy? I was looking for one at www.eio.com but really didn't find wiring to serial cable.

    You usually can't wire up a serial cable directly to a character display directly. You usually need something like a PIC or another simple microprocessor to receive the serial data, buffer it and then send it as parallel data to your display.
