Nice! I'll have to check these out... I have so many panels from dead laptops it's unreal.
SO
I have seen many people here with LCD issues. Its difficult to sort out. I didn't realize how many people want to use their cars LCD with their computer. This I don't know much about.
However I have also noticed a number of posts about LCD controllers, general/standard LCD panels such as those found on ebay for laptops very cheap, converting them for use with standard VGA or DVI etc. I'll first get straight to a success picture:
Forgive me if everyone already knows about this company NJYtouch. But I cant find any indication or posts about them.
This company sells LCD controller boards around the price of 35$ shipped. There are a variety of them that can use DVI and or VGA, and they ALL can be programmed to a HUGE number and variety of LCDs up to 17" and one TV board that will go up to 22". Furthermore, the company will often know the exact type of cables and inverters you need & supply them AND they will even write or find programming for LED backlit or other non supported screens if you send them in.
Anyway I hope this can be of some help to people. They also have touch panels of all sorts.

Yea I have been using their services for over 5 years.
Problem is that it comes and goes. Sometimes they stop listing them.
But it does work well and they support most panels. Bad thing is that most of these laptop panels are relatively worthless for car use. Bad contrast ratio, not bright and bad viewing angles.

have i seen you on notebookreview.com ?
Thanks for the replys all, I'm glad it was well appreciated. I would be amazed and happy if my first post got stickied.
Yes I am the same niffcreature from NBR forums.
And yes these convert laptop LVDS screens to being DVI or VGA monitors. They do have ones with composite inputs, I don't know how they would control 2 however, you could just get a normal AV switch marketed for home theater.
They arent worthless for car use! unless you want to be pretentious about it (no offense)
You can still see and use screens with bad contrast ratio and veiwing angles. Furthermore, there are plenty of good laptop screens out there. Problem is there aren't as many good small ones.
You carputer people are obsessed with tiny screens! Why dont you get more serious and use true full size 15.4" laptop screens, or I have some awesome WUXGA 17" ultrabrite ones.
actually I've been seriously wondering are there laws about screen sizes you can have on the dash?
laws on in car entertainment are kind of behind the times. anything dealing with screens in cars starts to encroach on how the issuing officer feels..
the major law says that there is not allowed to be any moving images in view of the driver seat, except for gps--(so my spinning mitsubishi logo in rr is illegal)
for screen size, i also imagine that you would start to run into laws regarding obstructing the drivers view. i remember gizmoQ has run into this a couple of times with his removable-tablet installs, and has posted more in-depth on the laws regarding that, so try searching some of his threads..

Oh one thing I forgot to mention - they also have a board for TTL panels!
As I understand this is the interface of a lot of less standard non laptop panels.
And once again, they will decode anything you send to them.
Yeah, thats sort of what i'd guess. Thanks. So just avoid the same cops who rip off some of your window tint to test if its too dark![]()
