Lilliput HDMI screen that would fit in 629 casing?

    Good Afternoon,
After about 6-7 months of smooth operation, my Lilliput 629 is starting to flicker when it turns on. I believe this is due to a loose connection at the back of the screen. I've tried tightening the clamps to promote a better connection, with no avail. It's possible that I may need to try a new vga->proprietary connection, but I am considering scraping this connection method and use the HDMI out from my motherboard.

I had the Lilliput molded into my dash by Nexon(flawless work if I might add). [HL]Are there any other Lilliput HDMI models that would fit into the 629 LED housing[/HL]? This would reduce the cost and time of replacing the screen if I don't need a new dash molding.

    I appreciate your input!!!!!

i'm pretty sure the 4-wire controller version of the latest 669's has the exact same controller board as the 629 does.

Thanks as usual Sonic...I appreciate the quick reply

I found a hardware review done by mp3car that says the controller board is bigger than the older lilliput models. I really hope someone has found information otherwise...as this screen seems promising(minus the glare factor).

Any additonal input is always welcome!!

Yea that would be my review... and that was based on the first model 669 with the 200nit controller board. There is a later model that i have also reviewed that comes in two different flavors... a 4-wire with the same controller board as the 629, and a 5-wire. Whereever you decide to buy... make sure to request the 4-wire. I wish i knew the difference in model numbers offhand but i dont.

    Geeze you are quick...
I was just going to reply with the mistake I had made. Thanks for keeping up!

I've found some group buys on the interweb with decent prices for the 669HB...I may have to seriously consider purchasing this.

Off the top of your head, is that proprietary connection a troublesome spot with the 629? I wonder if I would be able to purchase a replacement cable and sell mine to reduce the hit.

    Thanks again!!

I personally havent had any issue with it. All of my 629s died of "natural causes", but i have seen other threads with people experiencing flickering and issues at that "D" connector. I would think you would be able to buy a replacement cable from either the mp3car store or mo-co-so.

I am working on a lengthy post regarding the internals of the 669 since there is a lot of confusion.
To stick to this thread though
#1 The mounting points for the 669 control board are different than the 629 so the stand offs will be in the wrong spot.
#2the back of the 629 housing doesnt have a cutout for the HDMI connector and I think that the vga connector sits at a different height on the 669 board as well.
#3 If you have a way to support the control board you could get a 669, gut it and use the 629 front housing. The LCD panels are the same size and the button board has the same connector on it.
#4 I will post a complete run down of the 669 part #'s but a 4 wire model would be model #
669GL-70NP/C/T for standard brightness or 669GL-70NP/C/T/HB for the 450 nit version
The model # for the 5 wire is 669GL-70NP/C/T/5HB http://www.mo-co-so.com/Lilliput-669...69-5hb-rci.htm

Thanks for the followup! I was actually coming back to see how the control board would fit. You must have been reading my mind.
...Have there been any successful retrofits that I might be able to take a look at for inspiration?

Secondly, while I am here...and slightly broke. I see that the connection on my 629 has screw port/holes for female portion of the "D" connector. However, the male end does not have screws. Are there any cables out there that would offer this option? I feel as if my issue would be fixed with a tighter connection.
(Right now I have a shim between the rear housing and the D connecter to apply pressure. I've also gone to the AUTO ON routine. It works 90% of the time, but sometimes it refuses to receive a signal.)

    Thanks again for the help!!
