I have seen the touch screens available w/the LCD.

I think the touch part may be I2C interface.
If we an locate the datasheets, maybe someone can make an I2C to USB adapter that will work.

Wanted to bump this up because I'm interested in using the same screen.

There is NO touch controller, and there won't ever be one. The touch glass is a passive device with a number of row's and columns and is connected to an special capacitive touch-controller on the iPad-motherboard.

...bummer... I really like iPad's multi-touch digitizer and would have gladly used that if it were possible.

Well, just like clockwork, 9 months later and poof! I finally put together a working setup for the ipad LCD.

    VGA Only Model:

    VGA and DVI Model:

The LCD controller supports the LCD's native resolution of 1024 x 768.

I must say, the LCD is very nice.

I do not have a USB touch kit for it yet, and I do not have a work around for the stock (I2C?) touch screen.

Sizes, etc. are listed on the website.

THAT is amazing work. Job well done! Let us know when the capacitive touch will be ready. I wonder if that resolution will work with windows 8 though. Couple of months ago they said a fully featured Metro UI would only work with 1366x767. 1024x768 should do, but not IE10 for instance, which is crucial.

I haven't tested this though, so YMMV. Maybe the scaler in the LCD controller would work and present a good compromise?

The controller should support at least 1440 x 900. I don't think W8 will be an issue. I can't see how they (MS) would kill support for 4:3/5:4 panels anyway, if that is what you are saying.

This is the screen I want to use, but I've got to solve some serious space and control issues first. The screen will just barely fit where my air cond. controls are, so I've got to move those, which means Phidgets or FB controls and a CF plug-in, etc...
Then I also need a space navigator or similar to move around the new non-touch screen...

But I really like the idea.

Awesome! I'll be looking into this kit. Now, if only the touchscreen worked.....

Yes, it seems like it would. That with a capacitive touch would be a great change of plans for me. Very exciting display this one.
