Humm, interesting stuff. Now where can we find a controller for this?

How can it be so brilliant and bright and contrasty with only 200 cd/m2? That's about the same as the cheapest Lillis...My Xenarc 700TSV has something like 500 cd/m2...and it's nowhere close! LOL

I wonder if they had another source (not LG) for the backlight though.

IF this is really the iPad display, whatever they did, it works great. Not perfect, but good enough I think.

dont You planning to use it as carpc monitor? or do You mean VGA/DVI/HDMI + analog video input support?

Yeah, that would be what I'd like to have: dvi or vga at least.

typical 600:1 contrast ratio with 200 cd/m2 brightness - the first one is correct, but the last is a bit low - im still waiting for ~10 col AMOLED panels...

the largest problem with controller boards are the support and documentations. they are under NDA and will not be shared with a simple mortal like us... i gave it up...

i had a plan to drive a panel myself with a Texas TFP401/403 or Analog AD9398/9880 receiver chipset - but they dont support scaling itself - so only the native resolution of the panel can be used. i gave it up too, then i bought my Lili FA1011...

and now i realised during hacking the FA1011 that the unsupported scaling is not a real huge problem if You use a modern VGA card like ATi 4xxx (older cards might be ok too but i dont know, from which time is it supported. Radeon 7000 does not support it)

so, when i connected the FA1011 with hacked EDID to my HD4850, i found that the resolution on BIOS level / during bootup is 1024x600 - so, with correct EDID infos and modern videocard, the missing scaling support on the monitor side is not a huge problem!

the options are:
- TFP4xx from TI: only DVI/HDMI input without audio, works in passive mode without extra programming
- AD9398 from Analog: only DVI/HDMI with 8CH HDMI audio, but complicated programming is required
- AD9880 from Analog: DVI/HDMI with 8CH HDMI audio, 2x analog inputs, but complicated programming is required

they all have parallel RGB outputs, so for an LCD panel with LVDS input, further processing is required by a TI SN75LVDS83 for example - its passive too, programming is not required

so, tons of reading and DIY-ing is required... they can be found in TQFP100 package - its annoying for the first time, but much more easier to solder an IC like this with good soldering iron and soldering paste than i think for the first time. its not an impossible project !

They don't have the necessary cable for that LCD.

The controllers will work, and they will scale. I use them for a lot of my builds.

But, when it comes to support, well let's just say you need to know what you are doing.
NJY has good pricing (shipping is BS high though) but they are not very tech savvy when it comes to their products.

And don't get me started on their multi-touch panels........

I have the 40 pin version, but not 30 (which the 9.7 uses).

Very hard to locate, especially in the US.

Well, if you find them, please get back to us.

But even if you do, I wonder if these screens come with the capacitive panel and if we could make it work...
