So maybe this screen is more sensative then the VM70. Maybe it just needs a new VGA cable (maybe gold plated?) or it needs a noise filter like what comes with the Lilliput screens.

Also have you up'ed the brightness to see if that helps readability? So I should just stick with the VM70 and tint all my windows to mobster shade?

You and Sonic may be both correct. The detachable portion of the VGA cable is quite flimsy. I would not call it a quality piece. And given that the on-screen menus are quite clear, it is obviously a VGA problem. It is NOT engine noise because it is still the same without the engine running.

I have contacted Carl at Short-Circuit and he is of the same opinion and he seems quite willing to replace the VGA cable, which impresses me as many companies don't like the support hassle.

So HiJack, I would wait for further response from me, or take whichever route you desire. Given that the menus are crisp and clear, it seems like a nice unit.

As for earlier regarding multiple touch screens, I did not get that far yet. Spent my time swapping the VM70 out for the V70-XB and tracking down my problem. Next will be to hook the VM-70 up in the back and see how it goes!

Carl is awesome. I have always dealt with him in the past. He is also very prompt with responses.

Well the VM70 should be fine in the back, especially if you have tints in the back.

I played another hour or more yesterday and finally got multi-zone touch functioning. I should have documented each thing I tried, but didn't and I don't know exactly what steps worked. But in Windows 7 touch on each display only registers on the appropriate desktop.

Open Mobile is another story right now, because proper multi-zone is coming in 0.9 release, and current state of that code is not fully functional, but usable. Input breaks if it runs full screen.

Anyway, now waiting on the cable to see if it cures the V70-XB woes. I'll grab a pic today so folks can see that the older display is significantly brighter than the newer display at this point. MACRO on my camera isn't so great so finer detail will not come thru.

If I am hijacking this thread, someone let me know....

I seem to have issues with dual touch screens now. The newer monitor, set as my main, has intermittent touch issues. Works for a short bit, goes wonky for a short bit, and back and forth like that. The secondary doesn't have issues. I'm inclined to think this new monitor has had several issues and may just be a bad unit.

EDIT: Carl suggests it is still the cable and the new one they sent will hopefully fix the situation. I will post pics once it's working.

Good thought. But it is where the old one used to be. The old one will be Zone 2 in the back.

Well, the new cable did nothing for my problem. I'm really sorry I bought this. $160 for a defective unit. There is no sense in shipping it back and forth as this will drive my cost up above $200. Frustrating for sure. The V70-XB may well be a half decent monitor, but I cannot give it any praise since I have not actually experienced a working one.

Well you pretty much made my decision for me, lol, I'll stick with the VM70.

This is disappointing news as this was the next display I had in mind to use.

Okay. I don't want to make it sound that this particular model is bad. I do believe I received a defective unit. My real problem is that a) it was already mounted, and removal will leave marks on the bezel so it makes exchange a hard thing to do. b) shipping from Canada to US will drive up my final cost.

Now to be fair, Carl offered exchange/refund until I mentioned the bezel. So he has been gracious enough to offer me $60 credit which I will use for my next purchase. This seems fair enough to me. I do recommend dealing with short-circuit as Carl has been more than supportive and responds quite quickly to emails.

And if I am fortunate to find someone close that can look and find a modest fix, so much the better (but I don't hold big faith in that).

    Just one of those things.
