dont know anything about the VM70 but the Mini Touch has stood up to some abuse from me and still works everytime.
Hi,
Which screen would be better between the VM70 and Mini touch 700? Alternatively, are there other decent monitors around the same price range? Will be using VGA.
http://short-circuit.com/product/VM70.html
$125
http://www.mo-co-so.com/Mini-Touch-7...mcs-mt-700.htm
$140
Performance is not my main concern. I am trying to find a good price/quality ratio.
Thanks in advance.

I am a huge fan of the VM70 screens. What is nice about them are all the things that come with them. Desktop stand, plug, cables, and the part that sold me, the headrest shroud to put the screen into the back seats. The company that sells the screens if very big on customer service. So if you have problems, an email to them will be answered usually with in a few hours or less. The screen is comparable to the Lilliput EBY701, but has a better on screen GUI, in my opinion. The screen is built very solid, its easy to understand and you cant best the price. In most cases cheap = bad, but not this screen, its most def a good buy. I plan on buying m ore to finish out all my seats. Only con I see is that this is a CCFL screen. They do have a LED model which costs maybe a few dollars less then the mini-touch.

Ok, I just took a look at the link for the screen from mo-co-so. It looks like its a rebadged VM70. Only difference is one is a bit more in price. I think short circuit has free shipping. What ever screen you go with, you can't loose because both companies are great with customer service.

I would go for as bright as possible if you are not looking at dropping big bucks on trans-reflective. IMO, it's well worth it to spend the ~extra $20 to get the mini-touch based on higher brightness and LED backlighting, especially if you live in a climate that sees variations in temperatures.
The mini-touch also comes with a headrest shroud.

System always under construction
Are you sure those ratings are right? Unless Mo-Co-So is using the wrong picture :-(. If you are using this for the rear seats, then brightness doesnt matter to much. My truck has dark tints, with limo tints going in later.

Thanks all. I'll be using it in the center dash. Where would be the best place to get it?
Buy it from the links you posted.

Looks like these both come with the headrest shroud. Can anyone comment on how the display secures to this? I ask because I'm doing a Jeep Wrangler (which has no doors or windows of any kind spring thru fall) carputer install and I was thinking I could mold the shroud into my dash, as to have a custom install, while maintaining the ability to remove the screen (I'd probably only put it in for long trips, ie, offraoding/camping trips a couple times per month)

The shroud for the mini touch locks it in TIGHT. You have to put alot or pressure on the rear panel to get it out.
