I was thinking 5V was way low, so that is likely a big reason it's having issues (although wierd some res's work...)
after getting 12v to it, I'd say it would likely be graphics driver issues if you are still having issues.
Yep as soon as you said it tft I figured that would be the case, just no experience to prove it.
Hope that sorts it out for you!

What a fantastic find!
Just out of curiosity, can anyone show me a photo of the initial No VGA Signal screen that the control shows when first turning on? I have a Lilliput which has a horrendously ugly blue screen on start.
//edit: looked through the video... looks great! Now to figure out if it would be possible to power the backlight through a separate source (I put together a microcontroller based backlight controller that uses a photo resistor to dim the screen when it's dark (for night driving)).

I found my power supply from my old Lilliput and hooked it up (12v@1.5a). I still can't get 800x480 to show correctly; it still does the "shaky, blurry" display.
I updated the GPU drivers to CCC 11.4 and there was no change. I did get the screen to show properly @720x480 after a lot of horizontal shrinking in the CCC VGA adjustments.
I connected the display to my main PC (also running AMD CCC 11.4) which uses 5850's in CF. I couldn't get 800x480 to show as an available resolution to test, even after a reboot. All other resolutions (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768) that should work seem to.
I can not get 800x640 to show as a resolution on either machine to test (someone previously had asked).
Dang, that's a shame, thanks!
Ah that's annoying....
Is there a way you can specify a custom resolution..
Something like this maybe?

I'll give it a shot. I haven't had to do custom resolutions in several years. And it seems funny that one system displays the res while the other doesn't using the same drivers (I know the hardware is diff, but still..).
I'm battling the screen res AND ride runner/DFX5 now so my testing might be slow....
Yeah it's a bummer.
I am hoping that with a little bit of work there is a solution though..
