Great thread! I just bought this kit and now waiting for it to be delivered...

So my question is: I am currently writing my own custom mp3 player to go with it and to Derrick, I was just wonder how can I read the button board as I don't have it yet to see how it works... I downloaded your usb_hid_new.rar and looked inside and it seems you simply map the new buttons to a standard keyboard, as in when you click a button, it sends a message to windows via the key linked to it. If so, then I gather all i need to do is map the buttons to any key I choose then run your utility and match the keys to the buttons for the board? If this is so, then great, easy to implement

Thanks and hope this all works out for me without too many hitches... :P

    Andrew.

What I had to do was to screw the top and bottom to the last 1mm of screw travel, then slowly turn the top screw in till I can just feel the switch start to click. Next I turned the bottom screw in till the second to top would click, and started wiggling the trhird button till it clicked, turning the bottom screw a small amount more, and wiggling again.

Eventually I got them all to click, then I tightened the top a bit more, and then the bottom again, test clicking them all.

What is happening is the tiny surface mount button's rubber part has to be centered perfectly on the buttons shaft. If it is slightly off center, the button won't press. Wiggling as you attempt to click is KEY to success. I don't want to do it again but my button panel needs replacement due to not being able to program BLUE buttons, and the mapping of my buttons is upside down, where whatever I program to the second to top button is mapped to the second to bottom and vice versa. Since the top button is power, it renders the bottom button unprogramable.
thanks for sharing and sorry for the trouble

we did acknowledge that few sample shipment we received has wrong position mapping problem. it will go up side down...but all button should be programmable, just wrong position.

please try to map all buttons in the software. the power button should be work. if not, please contact us at derrick.ny@gmail.[email protected]. we will help you out. again, sorry for the trouble and have a wonderful holiday!

Mine works fine by the way. I tested with the USB plug, then cut that off and connected to motherboard header.
    thanks for helping

    - Did you try it with an external USB hub?
    - check with an DMM if any of the pins on the white connector has a short to another pin on the connector or power supply ground
    - do the screen and the pc use the same ground?
    thanks for helping

My meter couldn't really fit close enough to test the usb plug side so I couldn't test that side.

What I did find was that after unplugging the cable from the lcd board and plugging it alone (usb cable disconnected from lcd board) into the computer, the computer still shutoff which narrows down the issue to the USB cable itself. So my summary is that my USB cable is shorting. Any way I can get another cable Derrick?
Sorry for the trouble. yes, we will send you another cable or gives $5 refund, then you get the cable locally, it will be much faster

please let us know how to process by email. Enjoy and wish everybody a beautiful Thanksgiving!

for the life of me i can't get my ground loop sorted out. i have tried so many different fixes but i think it may just be the board i am using.
derrick, is it possible to get one of the new small footprint hdmi boards only? not replace the whole set just the controller board.
