Found out the LCD dims correctly off the illumination + (12V light) wire, not the standard illumination - (dimmer) wire. Works a treat now.

(and surely this won't be a moderated post when I send it though, come on)

Has anybody experienced any issues with reliability after a year or so? I have a mini touch 700, from mocoso and I'm on my second touchscreen overlay and now it seems I will need another.

Mine has operated fine, a little dim in bright sunlight, but I have had the HDMI version since they were first available last October, so not a long time on it. The touchscreen is really good for a resistive type.

can someone please verify that this screen can be used upside down? In my install, I dont have any room for white connectors and cables on the upper side of the control board. But I have room in the bottom, then comes the question, can I use it upside down?

i dont see why not, as long as you can flip the screen image in the operating system, and then recalibrate the touch screen whilst its upside down it should function correctly.

has anyone had issues with the unit not powering up properly? mine is powered off the 12v rail from the carpc power supply, which for a little while was working perfectly, now it only comes on when power is applied sometimes. other times i have to hold power button until light comes on to turn it off, and then hold down to turn it back on for the display to come up? if i dont do that the touchscreen overlay works and i can press buttons, but no image or backlight appears - the screen just looks dead. i have a feeling it is something to do with the control board, but im not sure.

Derrick.NY, have you come across this issue before? could you guide me in the direction of what to test? i have tried it on both the pc 12v rail and powering it up by applying power on the bench with my bench supply; it does the same thing. sometimes comes on straight away, sometimes doesnt. when it doesnt, it looks like it has the faintest of flickers, like it is trying to start up and then cant.

apart from this, i have no issues with the screen. its bright enough, the auto dimming wire works, touchscreen overlay is responsive and accurate.

ok so i just realised something that could possibly cause my screen not to power on properly, but im not sure. ive noticed my screen is on HDMI, which functions perfectly at 800x480 75hz. i tried to change it to DVI, however i think it has vanished!

my input scrolls through HDMI > unnamed input that goes to no signal straight away > AV1 > AV2 >>>>> HDMI etc

that unnamed input has no title box in the top left appear. i have tried resetting the screen.
    anything anyone has seen before?

I agree, and for the price, if you get the right stuff the first time, it's well worth it.

Compared to a few other OE installed touch screens, I've seen plenty that are not any better in full direct sunlight as this one.

Where is this wire on the display? I'm assuming you mean that if you tap off your parking lights or something to some wire on the control board, it will dim the screen for you?

the wire is the black wire on the AV inputs loom. if you connect this to a wire which goes positive (active high) when the lights are turned on, it will dim the screen.

i connected mine to the wire that powers the light in the cigarette lighter socket when the lights are turned on. just make sure with a multimeter that when the headlights are turned on, the wire has 12v, and when headlights turned off it has no voltage. then solder the black wire to it
