Cheers for the feedback.
Sounds like getting a replacement control board is the trick..
one more vote for a capacitive touch!
Me too looking for an affordable 7" capacitive touch VGA screen. The existing overlay contraptions (which I already have) are unnecessarily expensive.
With 7" Capacitive touch tablets getting cheaper by the day, I hope its only a matter of time before we get some sensibly priced capacitive touch VGA screens/kits.
What would you consider "affordable" for say a Lilliput 669 or 701 w/capacitive touch?
And, what is your idea of "sensibly priced capacitive touch VGA screens/kits"?
I don't think you are taking the entire cost into consideration.
Also, the "7" Capacitive touch tablets getting cheaper by the day" that you mention do not use USB interface. They are I2C which is lower in cost and widely available. USB on the other hand, not so much.
Without getting into a demand vs. pricing vs volume debate, let me state my view that I consider Lilliput or Xenarc to be obscenely priced and old tech to start with...They are milking us for the simple fact that there is no competition.
If a better LCD panel + controller itself is available for lets say $80-$100 or better still a capacitive touch tablet itself for $200 why would someone need to pay more than that for a simple capacitive overlay (USB or not)?
Do you have any links to Capacitive I2C screens? I don't think it would be too much a challenge to design or source a I2C to USB converter if there is sufficient interest.
i have this screen set up on the testing bench and have settled on 800x600@60hz. I have Riderunner set to 16:9 at 800x600:60 and it looks fine to me when in RR.
Can I have you do me a favor?
Can you set the attached "800 x 600 Circle.png" as your desktop (temporary) and take a digital photo of the screen (a screenshot wont work...)
There are a few things I want to see:
Does the image fill the frame of the screen with no unnecessary black bars?
Does any part of the image get cut off?
Does the circle show up as a squished oval (as in the second image)?
These are my main concerns with the screen right now.
