The USB Port and SD Slot should automatically be detected. If not then either the slot is defective or the USB Cable is miswired/defective. Troubleshooting USB devices is easy on the bench or in the car with a laptop and a male/female type a extension cable.

My guess is this. If it once worked and just died, then something burnt out. If it never worked, then they mis-wired the USB wires to the white connector plug, or crimped a wire such that it is not making electrical contact. Fortunately, you have 2 USB cables on that connector to compare wiring color with, and the order should match (red, yel, wht, blk)

With the sd card USB cable connected (even to your laptop on an extension USB cable in the car, or on your desk home PC) measure the the black and red wires for 5V to be sure it is getting power, if good, unplug and check continuity to the white and yellow from the board connector to the USB type A plug.

Here are the only drivers needed, for the other 2 USB devices:

Thanks for the info - I'll check the pinout. It's more suspicious that neither of the bezels have a working SD reader. I wonder if the whole batch is messed up or something. Just curious - how does the SD reader appear in the device manager?

    Thanks

Mine's in the junk box right now, waiting till I get time to fit it in my Ranger, but I do remember that all 4 ports were detected... touchscreen, buttons, usb, and sd card. I had them all connected to an unpowered USB hub, and only used 1 internal header:

I used the USB port and it was very slow, but with 320GB of SSD in that box, I never used the SD card so did not test it. I used gigabit ethernet and VNC's into my home network to transfer MP3 and FLAC files to that carpc when I had it in my old car.

I think thats just how it is...ive had a few diffrent ones now thay are all the same... i think the lag might be in the camera startup as mine have always switched to the av input quite quick.

Regarding my SD Card issue, turns out the connector wasn't plugged in properly. It's fairly difficult to get that connector into the socket, since it's very small. I used a plastic pick to push it in, and even then it didn't work well. I noticed that though the ends of the connector were in all the way, the middle was bent a bit upwards. This was my approach:

I first lined up the connector with the socket, so it stays in place, but still not plugged in. Then, I used the metal bracket that gets shipped with the bezel to attach it to the case, and used the shorter end of it to push the connector in - this way, it gets pushed in with the force applied equally along the whole length of the connector. Now it looks like the SD reader works great.

Elegant solution, equal down force over the whole connector.

I'm guessing the frame rate is off, my backup cam is PAL, and I'm thinking that the AV is reading NTSC, so only showing random frames due to the different frame rate. Is there any way to change the mode from NTSC to PAL for AV1/2 inputs?
Hi fishpost 19, have you found a solution to this problem as yet? I have emailed Derrick, waiting for feedback...
I was thinking of getting a pal to ntsc converter, do you think this will help?

After a day of testing, the backlight in the bottom left corner appears to have failed. Although, if I quickly flick through the backlight levels it sometimes lights up slightly.

I'll have to pull it apart to do more checks, there's a few posts a long way back about it heating up significantly and we have had a few hot days here (Australia), so wonder if that contributed. That being said, I've been testing inside an office where ambient temp would not exceed 30 degrees, so if it is a heat problem, then it would've had no chance in the car.
