Cool, but I'm counting on the version with the enclosure+capacitive.

Are you going to wait for the derrick_ny case? or are you looking for any full enclosure that works?

The video cable from the screen to the board appears to be a 40-pin FFC (Flexible Flat Cable), most likely 0.5mm pitch. If that is the case, for $20 USD you can buy an extension board and cable. http://diy-beamer.com/product_info.p...1391502847b561
Can the manufacturer confirm the pitch of the cable? It looks like there are two other cables as well, a 4 and a 6 pin, but im guessing at least one of them is for the touchscreen so will probably be different on the capacitive version.

If the seller or TFT wanted to be really, really awesome. Sell versions with longer ribbons or sell a extension kit for the ribbons for both the resistive and capacitive versions of the screen. I would buy that for sure because I am really worried about how short that ribbon cable is and me damaging it trying to mount the board. And it will also keep me from having to mount the board at an incredibly awkward angle inside my double din enclosure. Pretty please??

The 6 wire cable is for the LED backlight. The 4 wire is for the resistive touch panel.

Both use a .5mm pitch FPC connector (www/digikey.com) Very easy to extend.

The capacitive touch panel comes with a 6ft long USB cable, no need for any extensions.

Yes, I'll wait and see how it looks like. If I don't like it, or if it's too thick, I'll see if a hacked Xenarc/669 case will fit.

Derrick was nice enough to send over one of the open frame devices for a review. I'm impressed so far. You can tell certain elements are community inspired... like the length of the wires connecting the button board to the controller and the length of the ribbon cabling. I'm going to give it a rundown for the next few days and post it up with comparison to the lilliput (669HB/659SAW) and mini-touch. Thanks again Derrick.

Do you know if the 40pin has a 1mm pitch as well?

I think it's 1mm pitch as well, judging by the photo. 0.5mm would make it significantly smaller. There are no pre-made 1mm pitch FFC/FPC extension cables in 40 pins, so I'll whip up very quick one and etch it at home.

The 40 pin cable is .5mm pitch.

There is a link for a pre-made cable/board extension kit in this thread. (a few posts up) diy beamer.net I think
