The small screen is a "Transflective, optically bonded" screen from MoCoSo. The back of the LCD panel has a sticker that reads "LCD Enhancement and optical bond". It's the full tin of beans as far as sunlight readable screens go.
The picture talks itself. Yes, they are 'sunlight readable' but where is the rest? They are almost colorless. We use these devices in everyday life. Take your iphone in direct sunlight. You still read it. You can see industry's best transreflective optically bonded ones in ATMs. I dont like them. Its not my hope. Paying $$$ and feeling satisfy is a visual perception problem for me.
I also hate the resistive touch screen panel effect on the screen. I like the capacitive ones and I would pay for this. Not just because multi touch but also for the good picture. You talk like I paid 700 for this and it is the best picture. You go on thinking like that but again it is not my like.
No, what I'm saying is that for $600+ it's a terrible picture.
As for capacitive screens, take your iPhone, BlackBerry, tablet or whatever you have outside and angle it so that it reflects the sun into your eyes. Ok, don't do that, you might damage your eyes. But the capacitive screens are like mirrors when the sun hits them. That's the problem I have in my car. I paid $600+ for the purple anti-glare coating to not get blinded when the sun hits it. Readability would be nice but I don't think that's possible.
sebbery,
I totally agree with you. I was refering to your picture only.
I got my screen today but cant powered it up yet! I just made quick dremel job. I had a spare Mimo housing and give it a try. Display fits perfect to Mimo's bezel. The back of the housing needs some cutting work as the controller board does not fit. Controller board also 90 degree rotated so an extension cable is needed as well. I didn't tightened yet because I am thinking to put the buttons as well. Have no time for right now.

Sorry, couldn't resist!
I wonder how thick this screen with enclosure will have to be.
