    lilliput eby701 screen corruption

As the title says...I have an eby 701 that has screen corruption...or no screen at all. The odd thing is that there IS video for a second when you switch the inputs. The display flashes then goes blank. It does this on every input. Now here's more strangeness...if the input is left on PC and it's attached to a computer...when the power saving kicks on via the computer the screen turns blue. When you move the mouse to interrupt the power saving, then lines/stripes (multicolored) appear in the center while the sides stay blue.

I've re-seated all the ribbon cables, none are kinked and the continuity is good through them.

Is it the controller on the back of the LCD itself? Or the interface board that the LCD cables plug into? Or do I just need to cuss at it some more

    Thanks,

    sometimes different words work better

at work, we tell each other to pet the defective device-- maybe it's attention deprived..

though ti sounds like your main controller board is bad..

Here in the MI, we don't "pet" defective devices, we threaten them.
Usually, this will provide much better results.
Plus you don't get that warm fuzzy feeling inside that suddenly makes you feel attached to the device and not wanting to toss it.

I was raised that if it doesn't work, yell at it. If it still doesn't work, yell louder with more words. When all else fails...it's time to break out the beer and a hammer.

I'm just about at step 3

^ after so many unsuccessful attempts at yelling the devices back to life, we decided that the problem must be the tactic's we were using... when in doubt, try the reverse of what you did in the past..

ok Soundman...so I put it back together all nice and neat, called it sweet and said I loved it dearly and was so sorry about my actions and words I used before. It's behavior didn't improve...it sat there...mocking me. So I called it a selfish no-good dis-respectful POS and I think I saw a tear run down the screen....but alas it was spit from my angered yelling. Come payday a new board will be on order (hopefully)

small update...looked the circuit board over real good...found a couple capacitors that needed replacing...replaced them. After that at least the no-signal message became visible when nothing was attached. It seems to only go blank when a signal is present. Anyone real familiar with the controller board on these? Anyway to bypass all the inputs and go straight to VGA and ignore the rest?
