i was interested until it became apparent that i would never be able to fit this into a double din frame...
I think the whole idea of having the finished glass overlay is too elminate the double din frame completely. Im using a Bybyte frame myself, but seems like everyone else is too. For me its nice too see something different, too bad I just upgraded other wise I would be very interested in this.
I was interested but it sounds like the glass and touch screen is not bonded is not bonded to the screen which would introduce glare..
I also still need to buy my monitor so that is more cost..
I was interested thought as it's in Aus so the shipping shouldn't be ridiculous for a change :D
Any idea on a price?
that's fine to eliminate the dd frame, but i still don't see how to mount this in the dd opening in a bolt-in fashion. i don't want to refab the opening, i want to keep a 'bolt-in' appearance, so idiots walking by don't think that there is a custom $1,200 carpc installed...
Sounds like you have had different experiences with the ByByte frame. Haha. Out of the 3 cars ive had them in, none of them were a direct bolt in.
How would you mount this screen?
Maybe i misunderstood things.
This is just the touch pannel and touch controller... correct?
I guess i should have been a bit more clear. I use a transflective 7" lilliput bought from the mp3car store several years ago. Its probably a lilliput 619 or 629. Anyhow my touchpannel is starting to go and i have been checking out cost for replacements. Would this qualify as a replacement?
And for the record this screen is not a 4:3, it's not even a 16:9... i believe its 16:8 technically but everyone calls it 16:9. The native resolution is 800x480
What are the total L x W dimensions?
Yes, this is a capacitive touch panel with controller, that also has outputs that can be triggered by 2 or more finger gestures. So yes, it is a touch panel replacement/upgrade.
Ok, so yours is a 16:9 that's good. I think you interested in the active area (88x151mm) this is section of where the LCD pixels actually light up. The size of the outer panel dimensions can be anything as I can get it cut to any shape. Saying that I will be posting up some pics of mounting options very shortly, so hopefully I can get some feedback and come to a decision of final glass panel dimensions.
I'm putting a hold on cutting the glass tempered panels until I can come up with the right size that will please at least one person :)
I think it will be tough to get a size that will please everyone. But my double din opening is 111mm x 190mm. This size should work for most Honda/Acura's 1990-2003give or take a few models. Maybe check out what some of the more common or popular cars are on the forums.
