Lightbulb Looking to install LCD screen to display more gauges and other vehicle info

    Hey guys,

I want to install a LCD screen in my 08 Jeep Liberty. I want this LCD near the top of the dash (See the picture below).

My question is which LCD would be perfect for me?. All I want is HDMI or DVI inputs. And I want to go with a 10" screen.

I looked at the Lillliput FA1011-NP/C/T and I think this LCD might work. But are there any other LCDs with high res screens? 1366x768 resolution?

I want to use it with the carputer, but for now I am going to use it with my laptop. So I was wondering if there are any other 10" screens out there that are of the same or smaller size as the FA1011 but offer a higher resolution.

I would prefer if it was touch screen but if I am able to find a standalone 10" LCD with high res that didn't have touch screen, I might settle for that.

    Here is the picture:

there is a thread somewhere in this display section that talks of using laptop lcd screen with external controllers. that might be the best place to locate info on a high-res 10" screen. though that option would not have a bezel around it..

yea basically what I've found is that either the LCD is without the Bezel, or if if it has a bezel, its too thick.

Are there any LCDs that have a really thin Bezel?

or is is possible to construct a thin bezel to accomodate a LCd screen. Can I take the laptop LCD's bezel and replace it with a really thin one? Has anyone done that, do they sell Bezels only?

    Thanks for the response!

afaik they dont sell bezels standalone, that being said depending on what your looking for in a bezel, it can be really streight forward to make one provided that you have some basic "composit" skills(eg bondo fg/cf or something as simple as wood that is finished with a plastic film/vaniere).

i do not remember seeing any smaller then 19" in the past, but many of those super-thin led-backlit monitors require 19v power--just what so many laptop power supplies output, like the carnetix 1900, 2140. so that might be a option as well.

The problem with going this route is the controllers often do not support the LCD's native resolution as input.
I have controllers for a 10.1" panel, (with capacitive touch or without), but the controller will not accept the LCD's native res. of 1024 x 600.

There are controllers out there that will work with high res.smaller panels, and will accept the native res. for input. However, they often cost more than the LCD itself.

The Digital View 1400 comes to mind. See the Pixel Qi thread for info. That controller is close to 150.00

    thanks guys,

I'm gonna look for a hi-res barebone LCD and try to construct my own bezel. Also I have an old laptop lying around, I will try to find out the resolution and the type of LCD and look for a controller.
