Thread: Double DIN car LCD reciever with HDMI video INPUT

I've never seen one or heard of one. There isn't really a lot of demand for putting an input on the back of a double din receiver. If you are installing a carpc, just replace your receiver with a good 7" LCD, and if you've got the cash I highly recommend getting a transflective one. mo-co-so, mp3car, and Touch Displays all sell them.

^ditto. there really isn't any units with vga, or dvi connections either...

I see, I guess the only option is to replace the lcd with lilyput screen.

I hope you're aware that doing so will likely render the touch interface of the headunit unusable. It's possible that the controller for the Lilliput might not work with the video hardware of the headunit.
What you propose is not as simple as you describe.

So they put Apple iPod inputs on these devices but you cannot get any kind of HDMI inputs? That sucks. Help me out here if you can think of any solutions to this issue below.

I'd like to drop a 7in in-dash receiver into my car for one major reason. I want the ability to display anything that my Droid Bionic will output on a screen. I don't want to drop in a Navigation system because I already have a cell phone that does: Navigation, Internet Browser, Music, Movies, and any Android app I install. The phone can output 1080p through a mini-HDMI port, so depending on your connecting cable you can output the phone's audio and video if your display can accept either HDMI or mini-HDMI (doesn't matter if it is a 7" in-dash display or a 60" HDTV).

The only solution I can think of is maybe I can find an adapter that goes from HDMI to DVI to connect to the back of the receiver, however I have not had much luck finding a receiver with DVI inputs either. I would throw down some serious dough for a mini-HDMI input right smack on the front of the 7in display if someone would manufacture it for me :P

And don't tell me to go get an iPod/iPhone because I'm not interested, Apple is not my friend, end of story.

I'm looking for one myself. With the rise in use of tablets, who needs a fancy radio. I'm looking for a 7" double din unit that only takes only inputs from a tablet device or any other device for the matter; it doesn't have to be pretty. The only features that would still be needed is a quaility sound output and the antenna. Do these exist?

this device does exist.. I am loooking at the same thing for my maxima. its not going to be cheap though. You will need a touch screen, a multimedia dock for the bionic and one of these. Check out this video.
