What if you were trying to mirror your smartphone on the screen (via HDMI, of course) -- How would you route the audio doing that (bluetooth, maybe)?
sorry, never saw your first reply..
tieing 12v to a speaker won't work because putting any voltage through a speaker will 'activate' it, pushing out the cone, and in short order, the voice coil should fry itself from the power..
i grabbed the first bezel on the shelf--a lilliput 629gl bezel, and it uses a 32ohm, 1watt speaker..
tbh, i still don't fully understand why you need this speaker in the first place-- i just route all my audio to my amps, so all the sounds go through all the speakers..
i would use a device like this:
power it up with a 5v regulator for power, and connect directly to my amps..
I wasnt thinking to connect the power to the speakers, i was thinking to connect the power to the ac cord of a powered speaker, but i realise that doesn't make sense either. I just didnt want to pull anything else up in the car to run wires to the amp for something I didnt have a need for. I ended up getting this which will fit right behind the screen and will draw power from the computer:
From the reviews it will provide the perfect balance of sound and size for my needs.
Im trying to get the vaux to delay cutting power for maybe 15 sec after ignition is cut, I'm in automotive mode. I tried messing with the script mode but cant seem to figure it out and the manuals are of NO help. Could I get some help?
If you really want one you can use a small PC motherboard speaker as powered from the board and volume would be on the screen menu if its still catered for.
Your amazon link doesn't work...
Simplyfred, you could use the speaker to listen to your phone connected to the monitor via hdmi (for say... GPS -- and have you carpc connected via VGA)
With a good front end on the computer it handles all sound and mutes audio or video while your on phone automaticly same with the sat nav and sat nav should override with warnings plus visuals too.
Thats what pc is for with preset audio levels for all controlled by computer for phone, satnav, and audio/video system, no need for squeaky little speaker on monitor that would need separate control and need action to mute one or the other.
It all kind of defeats the idea of having a computer in car, if you have it all separely controlled, had that already with radio/dvd/mp3 player unit, satnav, phone handsfree etc. and all going at same time with separate controls can get confusing.
Not good when you are driving.
Also the computer doesn't like changing from one sound output to another it would get as confused as i am
VGA doesnt carry sound and your sound system output generally comes out of sound card sockets and HDMI at same time, at least it does on all the computers i have in house with HDMI, thats 3 at last count, unless you have a separate bluetooth for phone but then you'll have to separately mute computer audio.
Hey Ho !
