Use Joycon EXR and illumination lead to control brightness?

Hey Guys,
I'm planning an install on my brand new audi a3, so i wanted to keep things as OEM as possible.
One of the original radio's features is that it maintains the same screen brightness as the rest of the dashboard.
I have already purchased a Joycon EXR for steering wheel control, could I theoretically wire the car's illumiation lead to one of the Joycon EXR's channels and use that to control my screen brightness?
Or would it be easier to use a Fusion Brain??
What do you guys think??

I second this question.

I have tried looking up the specs of how the illumination/dimmer wire works, but I haven't found any real info. If it works by varying voltage, then the Joycon EXR will work. If it works by current limiting, then it won't work. If it works by PWM, then it could work with the correct resistor-capacitor network.
