About how many actual manufacturers are there of LCD panels? So are there any actual differences between brands? For example...If Alpine uses a Panasonic LCD panel in their screens, and so does Pyle, is there any difference between the two? Can someone please explain what the differences are? Thanks!

When I was looking for the NEC NL8060BC26-17, I found the -11 model (not -17) on ebay. I asked NEC about it and they said it was just designed to fit that laptop and might have different lighting and filter properties. Sometimes they might use the same, but other times they are modified slightly to make it "proprietary". I hate that word.
As far as I know, the panel is only part of the complete package. I have seen so many companies use the panasonic panel but the backlighting, inverter can make a difference. That's why you see different specs for the same panel.
