Dumb Question: Murano OEM LCD + touchscreen overlay film

So I've got an 07' Murano. It already has a 7" LCD in it, which IS NOT touch-capable.

I'm going to add a car PC to it, and in order to implement touch-capability, my intention was to use a touch-sensitive film like this:

I'm just a little unclear about the logistics of using this with my existing LCD, which seems to have some sort of plexiglass/glass protective screen in front of it. Would I slide the film between the LCD and the protective screen? Would I put it OVER the protective screen? Should I remove the protective screen, and pick up a more durable touch solution?

Thanks for any experience/insight you can offer.

you will have to have the touch screen on top of whatever screen or protector is currently on the lcd (so you can actually touch it!). ideally, you will need to somehow open the lcd housing and get this to fit in it and then close properly. that may mean removing the protector.

The use of the word "film" is rather misleading in that item's description. The item shown is just a cheap resistive 7" touch screen and USB controller. You can but the same thing on fleabay for about 12.00.

Do you have a way of connecting your car PC to the Murano's LCD? Something tells me it is not going to be as simple as connecting a CGA or DVI/HDMI cable to the display.

And, FYI that resistive touch screen will make your Nismo display look like sheet.

It's not. Right now, it's looking like I'll need an RGB-to-Composite converter (like the product that tvandnav2go offers) coupled with an HDMI-to-composite converter. My intention is to use this with the Android interface that CustomGadz sells, and they recently told me that they might be able to get a single converter box that does what I need, so I'll probably just wait until I get more information on the setup from them.

Errr... why do you say that? Experience? Educated guess? Is there a better product you'd recommend? I'm aiming to make this look seamless.

Plenty of experience with touch screens. The resistive screen will make the LCD image murky, dimmer, and will induce glare/reflection.

Not sure how the Android interface works, so I can't say for sure what touch screen would be best. Data is very limited on the CG website.

I did a similar overlay on a EEE PC install and I agree with the glare and a bit of dimness, but overall it worked pretty well. Just turn up the brightness on the screen and you'll be ok
