Tablet as a touchscreen monitor
Hello! I've not seen this particular subject discussed here via a search but please forgive me if it has.
I'm in the process of building a car PC and would like to use an existing Windows or WebOS/Android tablet as the touchscreen monitor. The screen quality is very good on both and I would have the added benefit of being able to take it with me and use it outside of the vehicle. The primary use for the car PC would be to play audio files/playlists through my existing sound system and also use GPS functionality.
The tablets and PC have Bluetooth and WiFi for communication but my preference would be the former (using a PAN), to avoid having to set up a wireless ad hoc environment in the vehicle. However, I'm not a network expert and there probably is a way to do this without too many issues. Since I don't want to stream the audio through the tablet (as most RDP software does) I'm having a difficult time finding an application that will allow control of the PC from the tablet (as a touchscreen) but still send the audio from the PC to the sound system.
I checked out Splashtop but that only supports WiFi. Given the explosion of technology lately this should be an easy problem to solve, but clearly I'm missing something. Any ideas?
