Lilliput 669 HB - Longer HDMI Cable?

Hi. I'm preparing to cable the car and unfortunately the Lilliput supplied HDMI w/USB cable is too short.

I've been told that you can't just put a normal HDMI extension cable on the end of it, as it prevents the USB touch functionality from passing thru' correctly and instead I need to but Lilliput's own 3m cable.

Can someone confirm / deny this pls? Assuming this is a requirement, does anyone have any links to UK sellers (Lilliput UK don't list them)?

The USB passes through the HDMI and is proprietary to Lilliput.

I assume that Duayn replying? The reason I asked thw question, is while searching for someone locally to supply the cable I came across threads with people using std HDMI cables to extend their runs with no apparent issues, so got a tad confused

I'd assume most folks with a car PC needs to retain the touch functionality, so it felt like I was missing something!

I guess I don't understand why an extension wouldn't work if the end that plugs into the lilliput is a standard HDMI connector. By standard I mean standard shape with standard pin count. Wouldn't you just be able to plug a coupler on the end and another standard HDMI cable? Same amount of contacts and contacting the same place... no?

I guess the other option would be getting two extensions. One HDMI and one USB, extend the PC side of the proprietary cable? Thinking that'd be a lot easier to find locally instead of waiting for a cable to ship.

Thinking about this further, if you use an HDMI extension cable on the PC side of the Lilliput cable, you should be OK.

The problem would occur if you extend the HDMI on the Lilliput monitor side of the HDMI cable.

A further question on the Lilliput HDMI / USB cable... what does that USB fly lead on the PC side do??? With it plugged in / unplugged, I can see no actual function or difference in system performance / functionality!! With the touch functions provided by the separate 4-wire (white) USB cable, I'm at something of a loss to the purpose of the USB link on the main HDMI cable

I used a HDMI extension on the PC side with a USB extension as well, no worries here.

Speedster I am not sure what you're referring to. I only have the HDMI with built in USB, HDMI end into the lilliput and HDMI + USB into the computer. Mine requires both for touchscreen capabilities. Are you saying you have a seperate USB cable running from the monitor to the computer?

Mystery solved..... my screen came with a separate touch connection, as well as the HDMI / USB lead. What this means is that actually, all I need is a normal HDMI and a USB extension for the separate touch connection. Makes life simpler

Is there an echo in here?

Also D, I've read all over that there are problems extending the Lilliput side, why is that? What's going on on that side that makes this cable so angry at extensions?
