Looks like one could buy a decent setup totally from Chinatoby. Screen and controller etc...

Any suggestions on which to look for? I am likely going to try a 10" wide screen.

    Thinking this one looks nice:

They still have the 10.1 multi overlay ? Only reason I didn't get that one was I work in a pretty dusty enviroment and I didn't want separate parts...bonded multitouch is better for me....I did have a list in my ebay watch list for 10.1s..I see what I still have....ips is the go

No only have 7s in there...1280 x 800 is nice but I would prefer to run it at a lower res as I'm only using a dual core atom....check the panel specs thet they have on there ebay listings for download.400 nit brightness is good

So If I am up to speed here it looks like people are buying the screens from chalkboard and putting a board on them from china toby?

If I buy the complete unit from China Toby I have to apply the touch screen myself?
Is this easy to do? I am assuming this would be similar to how you would put a screen protector on a phone. Make sure the screen is clear and stick it on?

I would like to order one of these this week so I would appreciate any guidance in this.

    Thanks!

Not sure bout too many others but it definatly worked well for me...but skip chalks setup and grab the screen from ebay too.(.ill post back up the link in a jiffy.)...works out much cheaper...more like $100 -130....bonded screen=no dust unlike my last samsung 7" which had a dust and other crap under the touch overlay.
Full setup from chinatobby might have ts attached but might not too, probably just all in the box..no big deal its probably just a stickon...easy peasy, just like a screen protector as u said...chinatobby setup is a lot trimmer than chalks tho (big bezel) might suit some dash panals a lot easier.
If you use wnidows much in the car (frontend minimized)i would almost prefer a lower screen res...1280 x 800 makes very small touch targets(windows dpi can be upped but it also changes the txt size in centrafuse)....not sure on the sweet spot for a 10.1 screen, but i have a netbook that runs like 10xx x 600??? would be great with touch.big targets....
But the ips screens are excellent and they dont sell ips screens with a lower res....you could wait a bit but i would jump on a ips screen.

I found others on ebay but this one had zero dead pixels (A class panel) i did have to msg them and ask tho.
The others were all second rate panels or overpriced,,just be careful
