today i did a bit of tweaking with my lcd.
i had the chinatobby board slightly die due to my HID spotlights creating some sort of surge on the reverse cam power wire...big rewire job and now my entire system is now only running and earthed from my second battery.as i have the chalkboard 10.1 kit and a chinatobby board im now running them together...meaning i have already installed the 10.1 lcd and the china tobby board for its autoscaling and auto reverse camera.i then rewired the chalkboard lvds cable to go to both....chalks board now powers the screen backlighting.this is good as it came with the ambient light sensor so i now have automatic brightness/dimming.
next the chinatobby board is driving the image/autoswitch to av2 and the other inputs.i reordered a slightly custom driver board a few weeks ago as i hated the no signal/bluescreen that chinatobbys boards were stuck with and the screen res wasnt quite 1280 x 800 but 1280 x 768 which was good but not perfect...both these issues were corrected for me and new boards sent out
so if your like me and have both lcd kits wire them up and marvel at its beauty
10.1 multitouch IPS screen with auto-brightness,hdmi/vga/av1/2 with auto reverse....mmm very nice

i also noticed that chalks have the new screens listed in open frame and tablet style.both with full HD input campatable and autoscaling...not that they have stock at the moment but they look nice.

I emailed them but never heard back - anyone know if they were actually planning on selling more of the 7" open frame?

I received an email last week that said "We have couple of 7" LCD with us but it is reserve for urgent customers. If you need these URGENTLY, you can pre-order from us."

I replied immediately and never heard back. I'd really like to have one of these displays but an beginning to wonder if these guys are real.

i was about to ask the same question too about the delayed response time and i just got a response this morn. i asked about the 10" display and how everytime i check on their website that it is out of stock and if they had a lead time on when they would be available again. he said that they were in high demand and thats why they got sold out so quickly and due to that they are now in full production to try and meet the cunsumer demand and that he estimated they would be ready for order in about 3-4 weeks and to check back around that time. so that seems like a plus but unfortunately we will just have to wait and see.

he did not mention anything about pre ordering to me but im interested in this. maybe i should reply back with an inquiry about the pre order and see what he says. as far as them being "real", i believe that they are as several people in this thread including camo.b (the OP) has actually recieved them and got them working. it just seems to be a waiting game at this point. im guessing they really are out of stock due to the great display at such a reasonable price. this to me will be well worth the wait, assuming i can finally get my hands on one... haha

I never got mine. I preordered the 7", then after giving them a free loan for 6 months, they refunded my PayPal, at which time PayPal took their (exorbitant) transaction cut, so instead of collecting interest on my loan, I ended up paying 4 times the amount of interest a bank would have payed me in a savings account. This kind of thing seems to happen each and every time I dare preorder something.

So is there any other 7" 1280x800 or 1366x768 touchscreen available for car PCs? I just want to be able to use Windows 8 properly.
