According to this latest update the most recent delays have an upside. New products and a faster turn around. http://www.chalk-elec.com/?p=1859
I sent them email, message through their website over a month ago and no response. Are these guys even still in business, or they just don't have anymore product? Any alternatives for a 7" capacitive for win 8?
Oh that is some good news...particularly with the hid cap touch 7"....who will be the first to order?
This is cool news...
Also don't forget that the member tft_lcd_org also does custom panel stuff as well. He just converted my 7" screen from resistive to capacitive and helped me figure out what screen would fit in my truck.
Would be cool to see what panels they do present though since I will be replacing another screen.
I got one of the 10" screens, looks good, but took months to turn up. Where as chinatobbys turned up in a week.
The 7" open frame panel on the chalk elec website is 161.9 X 110.2 mm. I have a double din Metra brand trim plate which has an opening that measures 172 X 99 mm. Im only 1/2 cm too short on top and bottom (~1cm total), the opening in the kit is big enough for the actual screen as the bezel is probably not smaller than 15mm total according to the technical drawings (screen is 95.55 mm tall). In that case I can prolly just trim the BACK of the trim plate opening with a dremel without touching the front.
Width wise I'll have 3.5mm on one side and 6.5mm of bezel on the other side according to the technical drawings. However I will still be about 5mm short on either side. Will that much space look bad? If so how can I fix it? Is there a guide on here on how to make this small mod?
